This is handmade wooden jewellery box with myriad colors of mother of pearl in oriental motif - peacocks, flowers. Nutural shimmering mother of pearl inlaid in peacock, flowers pattern followed by good quality lacquerwork. This jewellery box has mirror fitted underneath the lid and has attached extra tray for easy assortment of jewellery.

Inside of box is lined with smooth felt to protect the jewellery box from scratch. It comes with unique oriental style push lock. Music plays when it opens and stops when the jewellery box close.

This mother of pearl musical jewellery box has been produced through sophisticated lacquer work and inlaying mother of pearl by artisan with 100% manual work. Inlaying good quality mother of pearl followed by lacquerwork on jewellery boxes, furniture, crafts has been a well known speciality for centuries and remains luxury items until today. Lacquerware is produced by plastering hemp cloth on wooden objects and applying multi coats of lacquer mixed with charcoal powder and rice glue. When dry, the surface is ground smooth before it is carved and inlaid with pieces of shell (mother of pearl). After the first inlaying process completed, the surface is lacquered and ground repeatedly for smooth, lustrous surface.
